A Boy and His Voice

Now you see it, Now you don't!

Exams aren't over yet.. but as I said, I would do one more post on what is probably the fastest TV commercial.. ever.
A little backgroud:
The TV spot is supposed to sell a Breath Freshener that claims to work in one second, hence, the TV spot is.. yup, one second long (or short).. The spot was launched in Belgium, and will air in France, the UK and the Netherlands.
The spot was scheduled to air during every ad break on every TV channel in Belgium throughout the day. You can read the whole article HERE.
My $0.02:
The average reading speed is about 200-250 words per minute. Let's just take the most, 250, so per second, you read.. 4.16 words. (Calculate your reading speed HERE.)
Before I go on, I would just like to say that I think it's really quite a feat to produce and fit everything you need to tell your intended audiences in just one sec. Kudos to Duval Guillaume of Antwerp. I don't think there have a website, but they did a really cool ad for some house insurance thingy. (You can view the ad HERE.)
Right, the one sec ad. In my humble opinion, I think it's really too short.. like.. REALLY too short. In the current world where we are bombarded by ads everywhere, I think a one sec might not be enough to break through the clutter; even though it's going to be aired during every ad break in every channel. In my marketing textbooks, it's called noise; and I think there are just too much noise in our environment today.
Let's not forget about TiVo (even though it's not available in Singapore just yet). These machines record your shows and skips the advertisements (correct me if I am wrong), so.. you get a zero chance of viewing it. Oh, on a side note, I think these machines should be banned. It's going to cost people their jobs, and my chance of getting one.
A one sec TV spot, I think it's really amazing and pretty cool (for a lack of a better word), but it might just not be enough.
What do you think? Brilliant.. or almost?

Thanks to Rayner for the picture. The original picture is taken from the official liverpool website.

Liverpool has won the Champions League. Is that remarkable or what? It goes to show that dreams do come true. Heh. Keep on believing! Let's hope they get into next year's Champions League! Yes yes.. I know I am slow.. quit bitching. This IS an update right? Heh.
In more unrelated news, much love and hugs and kisses goes out to 2 people, Michelle and Kate. Michelle made me a lovely banner for my birthday, and if that's not enough, she sent me a nice picture frame with the quote, "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves." awww.. *tears*

Kate also remembered my birthday, and bought me a book! =) Yes, I DO read, quite frequently thank you very much. It was a book that I would have gotten myself sooner or later, and something Rayner wanted. Haha. Here's how the book looks like:

You can get the book at major bookshops. =) Oh yes, and thank you all for the birthday wishes. I feel much loved.. but, not enough presents to prove it? Haha. I'm kidding. I love you all.. lots! =)
There is this blog that I came upon, by chance. It's about writing your secrets on a post card and sending it in. I was intrigued. I had to read all of them, and I could identify with a few. Some are shocking, some are sad, and some.. you just don't expect. Below are some examples:

If you have the time to spare, go take a look. Maybe after that, you wouldn't feel so alone. The blog is called post secret, and it can be found HERE.

Exams are coming again, so I guess I have a reason to not update again. Heh. But I will. Maybe.. one post.. on the 1 sec advertising thingy. Keep your eyes peeled. I promise the next post would be more intellectual than this one. Heh.
That's all for Totally Unrelated News. Thanks for reading. =)
