New Year Resolutions

I don't really believe in New Year Resolutions because I don't think anyone keeps to them. To me, it's just a "feel good" exercise for everything that they have done for the past year, that's why I have never really made any.

This year, however, I'm going to make some and actually try to achieve them. Otherwise, it's going to be another mindless exercise that's just a waste of time.

In no other of importance (because resolutions are really all equally important no?) :

1. Love (and show them I do) my family more.
2. Charge up my career.
3. Quit (or at least seriously cut down) smoking.
4. Read/Write/Shoot more to improve my overall "creative" awareness.
5. Know God.

I don't want this to be in vain, so at any time anyone remembers that I am not doing the things I say I want to do, please give me a kick on the ass.

For now, adious. Check this space in a year's time to see how I have done.

Out goes 2008 and in comes 2009. =) I ushered in the new year with little fanfare. It wasn't a "riotous revelry" as some had suspected. I merely spent it with my favourite friends and well, we had a good time. 2008 was a year that reminded me that life is fragile, but truly beautiful.

Did anything major happen in advertising in 2008? I can only remember one and I haven't blogged about it. Who knows? I'm not keeping track. Someone once told me it's only advertising, no one died because an ad didn't run. That someone also seemed to have his work ripped off... but that's another story altogether.

2009 seems to be a year that's full of challenges ahead. Exciting isn't it? Keep your heads high and your wallets safe. If anyone can do it, we can! 2009 here we come!

The 10km Run

I have done it. The 10km run. Okay... I didn't actually run run and I walked a fair bit but I still think it's pretty good. My timing? It stands at 1hr 45mins. Dzul (pictured) and Paulyn did a lot better. I DID say I walked a fair bit so no laughing to you buggers out there. Hm... I think I can shave off a good half an hour if I were to actually train for it. This experience has given me renewed faith that I can do it. Well, till the next time. Ciao! :)

I haven't been watching shows lately so I'm not sure what's good and what's not. So, based on what my friend said, I decided to pick a show I've never heard of. The result? One of the best shows I've watched this year.

One of the most powerful and emotional scenes spoke volumes... without a single dialogue. The actors, directors go it spot on. What's amazing is, the director is a first-timer and from what I read, the cast isn't that famous either. Either way, it's pretty darn good. Go watch it. NOW.

Life Like a HK Drama Serial

I'm back from my surprise travel and boy was I surprised.

You know how when you watch a HK drama serial and there are these twists and turns and sibling rivalry and finally culminating in tragedy and/or peace? Well. I didn't realise I was in one.

In case anyone is wondering, no, I'm not going to elaborate. Let's just say it was quite.. surreal to know what had happened. I'm fine and so is my family and that's the most important thing.

Surprise Travel

I found out that my Grandma in Malaysia had passed on and as such, I would not be in Singapore for a couple of days. How many days I'm still not too sure. I'll still be reachable via my mobile. Internet... a bit hard la.

Thoughts from holiday

I'm back from my company trip to Bohol-Cebu. I realised that the people there are really poor... with squatters sprouting out from many parts of the city. I also managed to visit a church (Living the Gospel) that helps out poor children by providing them with school essentials and stuff - I'm glad that I was able to help and put a smile on their faces (details to be posted soon).

The thing is, some of these people (those I passed while I was in the coach, the kids, etc.) seemed contented with what they have. Seemed being the keyword. I guess I would never know unless I really speak to them. That brings me to a thought...

If you don't know what's outside your world, you would not think of pursuing (hence to a certain extent, feel contented), but if you do; you would never be satisfied.

I guess to some, ignorance is indeed bliss.

Mr. Harry Tan has passed away. Rest in peace Mr. Harry Tan. I'll not forget how you let us watch the repeated telecast of the World Cup Finals in the morning, and how you asked a parent to cane his own child harder. Most importantly, even though you never taught me and I never spoke to you (extensively) before, I'll not forget your fierce dedication to the school.

Once a Saint, Always a Saint. You will always be remembered.

Help Me to Help Others

My company, W3-O Design Lab, together with The Humanity Forum, is working hand-in-hand to help Living the Gospel Community (Cebu Island, Phillippines) during our company trip there.

We are raising funds to help 305 kids with ages ranging from 9-18 years old to live a better life. These children come from poor families whose parents are working as fishermen, construction workers, labourers, and carpenters - and they don't have the means to provide for their children, that's why they're at Living the Gospel Community.

We (W3-O Design Lab and The Humanity Forum) will be baking cookies (yes, me included) in order to raise funds to buy books, school supplies, clothes, shoes, etc. for these children.

Each jar of cookies will be priced at $15/jar, and for each jar of cookies sold, we'll only be able to purchase one side of shoe for one child.

If you intend to order cookies from me, please do not hesitate to contact me at fuzk.is@gmail.com with the subject, "Colour their Lives". Please give me at least 3 days to one week in advance to prepare for your orders.

ALL proceeds will go toward helping these children. Donations of any amount and any kind are also most welcomed.

Bruce Banner said, "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" and then he proceeds to turn green and create havoc.

Well, I'm something like that... not exactly, but I'm sure just as drastic. To put it simply, I'm a different person when I'm IN green.

Some of you might or might not have known that I recently went for my reservist. It was only for a week but for that one week, I was almost a different person. I swear a lot more (oh yes, I can swear a lot more), I smoke a lot more, I become stupid, couldn't care less for hygiene, dirty, eat almost anything, and generally become... a plebeian. The funny thing is, there are groups of people who think otherwise. In fact, they regard me as a people-finder, problem-solver, and an all-round superman.

I've got to live with the fact that this annual event will last for another 6 years and I guess I can understand (to a certain extent)why I have to do this. What I don't understand is, how can they expect us to do the same things, perform at the same level, and do what we do when we first enlist? How can they expect our bodies to last the same distance and suffer the same beating as when we were 18? Let's not even get me started on the system. OHHHH.. I'll probably be jailed if I were to let it out.

The point is, for a week or two every year, I become a different person. And I thank my love ones who help to keep me in check and get back to normal life. I'm different when I'm green... and oh do I hate green.

As you guys might have guessed, I have been bitten by the shutterbug lately.

Why the Holga? You might ask. Why not a digicam?

Well, I love the trippy and crazy colours of the Holga and I thought heck, it might even improve my visual sense. A digicam doesn't have that element of surprise. It's too clean... too predictable... definitely not enough to get me hooked.

I know a lot of us take photos for fun and to document your lives... very much like why some of us blog. But would you take a picture everyday for 18 years of your lives?

I just read of someone who did and unfortunately, it didn't have a happy ending.

To me, it is a powerful story of how one stays dedicated to what he does and an insight into his life.

I've got 3 new girls added to the family recently. I'm really happy. =)

Meet the eldest, Vivien. She was a little hard to manage when she first arrived but now, she's very patient and listens to me all the time.

The middle child, Macie B. She's a bit spunky and doesn't mind the attention people heap on her. Very intelligent and picks things up really fast.

And the most recent edition, Euterpe. I'm still at the stage of finding out how she'll be like. Already at a tender age, she displays great musical talent. Enjoys all types of music and doesn't mind sharing her passion of music with others. I suspect she will be a musical diva. Oh and yes... Euterpe is a her.

When Love and Hate Collide

Have you ever had the feeling that when someone you love does something really stupid you don't know whether you want to laugh or cry, love or hate that person? I'm feeling like that now. No, I don't have someone I really love cheating behind my back (although that has happened to be before) just in case anyone is wondering, I'm just talking about the recent M1 ads.

It just baffles me how TBWA/Tequila (I THINK they did the ad) can come up with one absolutely brilliant, iconic ad and another brainless, totally retarded ad.

For the benefit of those who hasn't seen the ads, this is the one I love:

The 1st one is brilliantly funny without being insensitive, people will always remember it. Just ask ANYONE who has seen that ad and I'm sure they can recite the part where he said, "Singapore? Mumbai dey.. India!" The 2nd one? I don't know. It's not funny. It's TRYING VERY hard to be funny. In fact, it's trying so hard it's painful to watch. Squirrels? It's not even remotely funny. I HATE IT.

Now you know why I'm feeling confused. Like I'm hanging on a cliff with one arm and my ass is itching like mad. Should I scratch my ass and plunge to my death or not...

Guess who's back

About damn time... that was my first post after exactly.. 8 months.

What a long time to be away. Was it deliberate? No. Well, I sort of forgot about it... and I didn't know it would be soooo long. I didn't know like I didn't know for the past 27 years, I had flat foot. Yup. After 27 years, I found out I had flat foot. After 8 months, I blogged. You see the link? No? You're dumb. =P

Is it good to be back? I don't know. I guess. I can start ranting... again. It's going to be a little different. Instead of just talking (I prefer to use talking than blogging, talking makes me feel like I have friends and I have people reading this blog) about advertising, I'm going to talk about whatever I like. I think it'll be mostly food... because I like to eat. It might be about my new hobbies, my new toy, my exercise regime! Yes. Exercise. Something I might do more often if I want to live a bit longer... or at least to stop myself from puking after looking at my own reflection.

If anyone is keeping count, yes, I did say on my FIRST ever blog post that I would not talk about mundane stuff or stuff about myself. Guess what? I LIED! Yes. I still owe some people something... I'm a little peeved. Call it sour grapes, call it whatever you want.. but to the people who understands what I am about to say, I'm sure they will be too. First off, a little background..

Sorab Mistry (the EVP of Asia Pacific for McCann Erickson) recently started a program called, Talent Draft Initiative, where it hopes will fill the lack of depth in the local advertising pool. Top graduates, after a selection process, will be offered a job with the sponsoring companies. They include: McCann Erickson, O&M and TBWA, to name a few. These students will be with the companies for 2 years, with a guaranteed salary of $2000. They will then go through a training program developed by Mistry with the IAS and obtain an IAS Professional Diploma in Advertising. According to Mistry, Singapore is experiencing a "decreasing number of talents across all advertising disciplines" and a distinct "lack of young ad savvy locals". (Read all about it HERE)

Now, what am I pissed off about? That this is absolutely fucking bullshit. Off the top of my head, I know at least a dozen people who could use a job in the industry. No offence to Mistry, I don't think a program or a "talent draft initiative" is needed, people like you merely have to open your eyes (and heart) to know that everyday, people like me are trying to get into the industry.

Damn, let's not even talk about getting a foot in the industry, some of us are trying to get our damn toes in first! I have looked for one bloody year before someone decided to give me an opportunity, my friend has been told, "you're not good enough." I have friends looking, every single day.. what? No talents? I can't say we're the best, but I have absolute faith that if you give us a chance, we will work our asses off at becoming the best.

Maybe, just maybe, Mistry is looking for a quick fix... maybe he is looking for an advertising scholar. Top of class = top creative. Is it really that simple? Advertising genius Bill Bernbach once said, "I warn you against believing, that advertising is a science."

I'm not sure what I'm angry about anymore. Is it because we weren't given the same opportunities? Probably. Is it because I believe that this isn't the best way to look for talents? Probably. I just don't know what to feel anymore when advertising isn't about passion and lots of hard work, and people who truly wants it has doors slammed into their faces even before they could say, "Let me try."

Let me know I'm not the only one feeling this way.. that I think something is seriously wrong.. somewhere.

I'm sure most if not everyone (my total readership of 5) who reads this knows what Friendster is about. For those who doesn't, it's something like MySpace. It's a place where you "connect" to your friends and make new friends. I think they call it a.. social networking site.. or something like that.

I'm also quite sure that a lot of you have heard that MySpace is making quite a huge wave in the marketing/advertising world. Everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon and create a profile for themselves on it.. from everyday Joes to celebrity wannabes like Kevin Federline; and the advertisers are lapping it up. In very much the same essence, Friendster is a site that has taken the world (at least this part of the world) by storm. I'm actually quite surprised that it has taken Jeff Roberto (marketing and PR director for Friendster) so long to pursue advertisers. [Read the article HERE.]

It would be interesting to see which advertisers jump on board and at the same time, remain relevant to the users. From the sheer numbers alone (Friendster has over 40 million users), your advertised product is bound to be seen by someone, the question is, is it to those that want to see it? I'm not sure how MySpace is doing it, but since Google has already jumped in, I think it's safe to assume that more likely than not, it's going to be contextual advertising.. but of course, we know how horribly wrong that could turn out.

To quote a friend, "using a bazooka to kill a mosquito" could get you what you want, but you also get a lot of unwanted attention. Let's wait and see how this works. What do you guys think? Is it going to work? Is Friendster going to be as "big" as MySpace?

Oh, and to prove that they are probably doing the right thing, I DO have a friendster account. Heh.

I just saw this over at wired news, and what I saw blew me away.

Remember the cool multi-touch technology you saw on iPhone and how you could enlarge pictures just using your fingers? Imagine that in a big screen.. with even more features. If it's a little easier, think Tom Cruise in Minority Report.

Ever since Apple Inc. came up with the iPod, a lot of companies have tried to copy their style of naming their products - namely adding the "i" in front. I'm not sure whether it sells their products, but personally, it just tells me that you are lazy, and not very creative.

One of these companies is Osim. We have the very (in)famous iGallop, and their even more.. attention-grabing ads. Now, we have something that is going to be just as.. wrong. Osim now has iPoke in their collection. Yes. iPoke. No no, nothing naughty, just a foot and calf massager. (Look at product HERE) For the life of me, I have no idea why they would want to name a product like that.

Oh and erm.. I think Osim didn't think of it when they name they latest product.. but, it actually sounds like someone's scolding you. Yeah.. the product in question is uPapa. What's wrong you say? Well, say it like a Singaporean.. yeah.. YOUR FATHER AH! Brilliant marketing people, not so brilliant this time. In case you want to take a look at how the product looks like, click HERE.

May I just add that I have NOTHING against Osim? Okay.. maybe only towards their not very creative way of naming their products and their not so creative ads. I'm just wondering.. if the uPapa targeted towards dads start selling like hot cakes, would they come up with something for mums and call it uMama? Heh.

Alright.. I know.. I'm a bit slow on this one, but here it is:

The copy on the trash bin says, "Stay current with Corporate Training, or else." I don't really know who did it, but I think it's SIM. Apparently, this has been causing quite a stir. I happen to listen to a chinese radio station (I was in a cab la.) and the DJs were asking callers for their views, and some callers weren't very happy.

Personally, I think it's quite good. It's eye-catching and it's relevant. What do you think?

I read on Marketing Magazine's website that Packard Bell is coming back to Singapore. The GM of Hybrid Digital (the distributor for Packard Bell in Singapore), Ong Chee Lip, has big plans for Packard Bell. He wants to start off with a branding exercise (which is always good) and he wants to position Packard Bell as "a class of its own, being totally different from all the other IT players." Wow. Sounds great right? Wait wait wait.. hold on to your knickers. This is where it starts to stink of a familiar scent..

Let's look at what's being said,

“We intend to compete in the PC market by offering a full range of products that possess ease of use (functionality), therefore meeting the basic general requirements of the public, combined with the aesthetics characteristic of European, and particularly French branding.”

Er.. what do you mean by "aesthetics characterisc of European, and particularly French branding?" An European style, French flavoured product that's made for Singapore market? Are we still talking about computers here?

Guess what? It gets better.

Let's take a look at another excerpt from the article:

In line with the brand’s aim of being perceived as having a trendy outlook and unique design, Ong said Packard Bell products will be positioned in the middle to high-end range of IT products, with a range that also caters to the needs of budget-conscious consumers.

If you thought that they were only going be positioned in the middle to high-end range, but got blind-sided by that last sentence, you're not alone. Erm.. target everyone just say target everyone la!

I could smell the bull from a mile away man. Whatever is the case, it's interesting to see another PC player coming in. Let's wait and see what their branding campaign will be like. Till then, I'm off to get me some fresh air.

I have a friend who got into an accident, quite a serious one. He hasn't recovered yet, and his bills are mounting. The thing is, he doesn't have insurance. Don't tell me what should be done, because that's too late.

I'm sure everyone saw the "I swallow" ad.. If you ask me, I just think it's pure bad taste. Anyhow, it did enough to be featured in Adrants. Here's the LINK.

Oh, and to everyone else who thinks that if the ad's sole purpose is to get noticed, and that's what it did, hence it's a good ad; I disagree. Personally, I don't think it's good enough to measure the ad by such a one-dimentional yardstick. Sure it got noticed, but was it perceived positively or negatively? Did you manage to convince or just gross everyone out?

Oh my. 3 months of inactivity. Who cares?! I'm not a blogger, I'm just someone with a blog. I update as and when I like. Heh.

Oh well, in 3 months, a lot has happened.. let me TRY and recall.

I finished my reservist.
I got into AWARD School.
I got myself a temp job.

Reservist was quite alright. I'm quite impressed by my CO and OC who showed compassion in allowing me time-off to prepare for AWARD School. AWARD School is quite cool. I'm learning a lot. I just want to be like Sponge Bob Funky Pants. Heh. =P The temp job is alright. Brings in the dough.. so yeah.

Ok lah, doesn't seem like a lot, but it is! All major events at least. Now, let's see what didn't happen..

I am still quite.. erm.. curvy (even though this isn't exactly the right word).
I am still single.
I still need a full time advertising job as a junior copywriter.

There is this uber irritating ad that's being shown on tv now, please tell me I'm not the only one that has seen it.

As the title suggests, it's for uZap. Seriously, it has no freaking idea whatsoever. Basically, all you hear is, "zap zap zap zap zap zap zap zap (X too many times) your tummy. zap zap zap zap (X too many times) your thighs.." It's FUCKING irritating. uZap your mouth shut. Sheesh.

No idea, lousy execution, and just plain irritating.

Another creative outdoor ad. This time, in the form of a "double-sided" billboard.

A billboard is usually only one-sided, meaning you can't see through it.. or there is something totally different on the other side. This one is different. Take a look and you'll know what I mean. I like it. It's more realistic this way. Not only is one able to see the drug addict (behind bars), one can also see how his loved one is feeling; which really brings across the point, "If you take drugs, who really pays the price." Well done I say.

They (or the network that is broadcasting the Oscars)are truly the winners. Why? You ask. The answer is really simple. To advertise on the Oscars, one second of air-time will costs advertisers SGD$100,000. Yup. It's one hundred thousand buckaroos PER second. Let's do a little math for a typical 30-sec spot:

SGD100,000 X 30 = SGD$3,000,000

That's freaking $3,000,000 bucks for ONE 30 sec spot! Oh, and there's the loading for the 1st advert or the last advert, etc. Not to forget, I don't think anyone is going to just advertise just once. I wonder how much it's going to cost to advertise on the Oscars. Let's do a little more math here:

The show is probably about 4 hours
Assuming there will be at least 4 ad breaks in one hour, and there will be at least one spot on each ad break: 4 X 4 = 16 spots.

Total Expenditure = SGD$3,000,000 X 16 = $48,000,000

Holy Crap. $48,000,000!!! You know what you can buy with that shitload of money?! That's precisely the reason why Joseph has come out with book proclaiming that TV advertising is dead. How much returns can you get after spending $16 million bucks? That's the million dollar (pardon the pun) question isn't it? Well, I'll be back with the book review, Life after the 30-Second Spot: Energise Your Brand with Bold Alternatives to Traditional Advertising, by next week or so.. keep a look out for that.

Got Milk?

No, this isn't the got milk campaign. As you can see, this is done by Daisy, a brand of milk in Singapore. I think the idea to use that portion of the escalator is really good, I'm just not sure whether the idea itself is good enough.

Ribena advertised in the same area once. I THINK it won some kind of a advertising/marketing award for that campaign. They made use of the gradient and the shape of ~~grapes~~ blackcurrants (what Ribena is made of). I think that was really good. If anyone has pictures and/or information of that Ribenia campaign, let me know, I'll put it up. =)

This is another post that was supposed to come erm.. 2 months ago. Anyways.. Let's get to it.

This gigantic phone is actually a JC Decaux (or is it Clear Channel) billboard. As you can see, it's an effort by Singtel to try and promote their 3G services. I'm not sure if the Nokia phone is deliberate or not. I must say it's pretty eye-catching, but I'm not sure if it's effective. Generally, I THINK most people are not signing up for 3G services because there is no need for it, it's still too expensive, and there's no point having it because no one else has it. Maybe this ad benefits Nokia more in the sense that it's able to show how vibrant the colours are. But I think it's cool.

Imagine the possibilities. Exciting times ahead for outdoor media if you ask me. What do you think?

This was a bus stop shelter that was opposite the man with balls.. erm.. soccer "players".

I think it's quite cool.. but I also think it's in the wrong place. Seriously, when you come out of the HMV, you won't notice this because the first thing you see are the giant players and their ball. If you walk in-between them? You will still notice the giant players and their ball first, because it's BIGGER! They should have done it at somewhere more prominent.. say.. the giant screen.. or somewhere that everyone will see and look and it and scream, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0!" while looking it at.

Oh well, maybe next time they should do some reserach first, so they won't waste money la hor?

It's the holiday season, and it's time for beer.. and bad beer ads.

I'm sure most of you guys have seen the Carlsberg ad on TV. The one with Adrian Pang and Allan Wu? One word comes to mind. BAD. Seriously, it is! Sometimes, it's better not to try so hard. Not only does it look/sound lame, it actually looks like it's been shot on a camera phone. You are freaking Carlsberg, I'm sure you can spend some money on production rather than paying for extras acting as friends of Adrian Pang. Damnit, fire your agency I say!

Since we're on the topic of beer ads, has anyone seen the one with Jessica Alba saying, "You've got the best beer Singapore." Surrrrre.. I'll believe you, if you can be bothered to look convinced. I'll have a beer with you anytime, just not Tiger.

Actually, I'm quite surprised that both Carlsberg and Tiger are coming up with crappy.. "celebratory" ads. I'm guessing Carlsberg probably had theirs done locally and Tiger just got lazy. Sure Jessica Alba is yummy, but asking her to endorse your beer.. hm.. questionable. I thought their previous campaign had a little more idea in them. Ah well, let's hope we see better ads from them soon.

I'm sure most of you have seen this before.

Adidas has mounted gigantic footballer statues right in the heart of Orchard Road (outside Heeren) in anticipation of the World Cup. The giant footballer statues although faceless; are wearing the national colours sponsored by Adidas. Oh, let's not forget the gigantic boots and the gigantic ball too.

In my opinion, this is a great outdoor ad by Adidas.. erm.. if you can consider this an ad. I think it's going to gain a lot of coverage; word of mouth at least. I've seen tourists taking photos with these statues, heck, Singaporeans too. Giant men and giant ball? Me likey, you? Click the small pics for a larger, clearer image.

Can Shocking Ads Stop Smoking?

I got this video from msn, and I quote Matt Lauer from Today; in the video,

The images you are about to see are shocking, some may even say grotesque..

Interestingly, it was mentioned in the video that the ads worked. Even more interestingly, these same ads were shown in Singapore before.

Personally, I don't think the ads worked as much as it did in the US. Why? That's because I THINK we're more aware of the harmful effects of smoking. I'm not saying kids in the US are ignorant (okay.. now I'm saying it.. but guess who are those that thinks Singapore is part of China?), I'm just saying maybe we're more.. sanitized to the idea of gross images; because we see them on cigarette packets itself. Smokers definitely aren't affected as much as non-smokers, because they see it on the packets all the time, so when they see the ad on tv; they automatically switch off (their mind).

For the benefit of those not being able to view the video due to whatever reasons, the series of ads are the one that show a brain being cut open; the arteries being blocked, etc. I'm not sure if the ads worked while they were being shown here. I'll try and get some info and let you guys know whether the ads worked here. Well, if you guys have any info, let me know.

In the mean time, what do you guys think? Can shocking ads stop smoking?

Real Women, Real Beauty.

In August, I talked about Dove and their use of real women in their campaigns. I also said that I believe Dove will be a success. Guess what? I'm right. Brand Republic reported that Dove's sales soared by 700% in the first half of 2004, and they won the Euro Effies Grand Prix.

I remember saying that real girls (or women) are beautiful, and I still stand by that. Sure I can think of a few 'enhanced' women out there (none I know personally) that are beautiful, but real women and real beauty still rocks.

Girls, do not believe everything you see on the covers of magazines, not everything is real. Here is one good example of how digital imaging can make everything look so perfect (stolen from BLM). The above-mentioned project was started by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (Sweden) to educate girls on how the 'perceived' beauty may not be real. You may not quite look like them, it's not quite possible; and you don't have to. =)

Challenging the traditional media.

In my last entry, I mentioned something about advertainment, and how advertising will not be the same again. I also mentioned that TV advertising will not be the main advertising media, as well as the book "Life After the 30-sec Spot". Here's a chance to prove just that.

Joseph Jaffe has thrown down the gauntlet. He will issue a free copy of the book to any business/marketing/advertising-related blogger that reviews his book. [Read all about it here.] I'm not sure whether my blog qualifies, but I've emailed Joseph about my (possible) participation already. I believe that "new media" such as blogs, video iPod, etc. has enormous potential; and I want to be part of it when it works.
